A role across technology, accounts and people
The work extended beyond a single laboratory or product category.
Andrew supported a broad account base that included the National
University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Biopolis,
hospital and laboratory accounts across Singapore, and veterinary
businesses including Mount Pleasant veterinary facilities.
The portfolio at the time involved laboratory analysers,
instrumentation and recurring consumables associated with
international diagnostic and laboratory brands such as BD
(Becton Dickinson), IDEXX, Phadia and Hettich, among other product
lines.
Working across engineering and business development required more
than technical familiarity. It meant understanding different
operating environments, communicating with varied institutional
users, developing accounts and following through responsibly as
needs evolved.
This chapter helped shape the systems perspective Andrew applies
today: understand how the parts connect, recognise the needs of the
people using the system, and consider reliability, relationships
and long-term consequences together.
