What does the MindChamps 3-Mind Approach mean for your child?

MindChamps describes three connected qualities: the Champion Mind, concerned with individuality and responding to challenges; the Learning Mind, focused on strategies for understanding and using information; and the Creative Mind, which connects perspectives to develop ideas and solve problems.^[3]

For a family, these ideas become meaningful in small moments: a child asking for help, explaining an idea or finding the confidence to attempt something unfamiliar.

Imagine children building a bridge from blocks. When it falls, a teacher helps them work through disappointment. They compare designs, discuss what happened and try another way. This is an illustration of how mindset, learning and creativity can meet in one experience, rather than a report of a particular lesson at either centre.

A learning approach that considers the whole child

The S.M.I.L.E.S. framework covers Sensory, Motor, Intellectual, Linguistic, Emotional and Social development. MindChamps describes enquiry, creative activities and language learning as parts of its curriculum.^[4] During a visit, ask the team to show you how these elements come together in an activity and how they adapt it for different children.

MindChamps PreSchool @ JTC Summit opened in 2010. Its official centre page describes community and festive events, parent involvement and fundraising activities. It also lists programmes for children aged 18 months to six years and a location within a building with 24-hour surveillance and security officers.^[1]

That history gives families something concrete to explore: how the principal, teachers and parents build relationships over the preschool years. Ask about the way new children settle in, how parents hear about progress and what family participation looks like today.

During your tour, ask to see the indoor MindScape space and discuss the current arrangements for movement, active play and outdoor experiences. It is a chance to understand how the environment would work for your own child.

A MindChamps article published in 2018 records a 2012 Top Performing Centre award from the Franchising and Licensing Association Singapore, linked to enrolment and capacity, and a 2017 ThreeBestRated listing among three preschools in Jurong East. These are historical recognitions; they provide background rather than a current ranking of teaching quality.^[6]

Make your visit personal: tell the team what your child enjoys and what you are concerned about. You might ask, “How would you help a child who watches quietly before joining in?” The conversation can reveal more about fit than a general description of the programme.

Five questions to bring to your preschool visit

A good visit should help you picture an ordinary day. Use these questions to move from the programme description to the experience your child would have.

1. Settling in: Who will get to know my child, and how will you keep me updated?
2. Learning: Can you show me an activity that grew from children’s questions or interests?
3. Language: How do you encourage a child who understands more than they are ready to say?
4. Care and confidence: How do teachers respond to frustration, disagreement or reluctance to join in?
5. Practical fit: What are the current class arrangements, fees, programme hours and available places for our intended start date?

Look at value in the context of your family

Consider the journey to school, affordability, your child’s needs and the relationship you can build with the team. Request a written fee breakdown, including GST, registration charges, deposits, programme inclusions and any applicable subsidy or promotion. Ask what changes as your child progresses through the levels.

School readiness also deserves a broad conversation. Alongside literacy and numeracy, ask how the centre supports independence, friendships, asking for help and adapting to routines. These are the everyday experiences I would want to understand when considering the move to Primary 1.

For existing parents, there is value in the same questions. Share what your child talks about at home, what they are finding difficult and what they are proud of. A useful partnership gives teachers and parents a fuller picture of the child.
